Dr Mike Wood leads the Gas Turbine area at ERA Technology.

In the 24 years that he has worked there, he has been actively involved in a wide range of investigations concerning gas turbine integrity, repair, non OEM components, life extension, associated operational problems, failure investigations and Expert witness work in arbitration/litigation cases.During this time he has worked on very wide range of sizes, ages and makes of industrial and power generation gas turbines. This work has been carried out mostly for gas turbine operators and the insurance companies.

In conjunction with these activities, he has also initiated and lead programmes to develop improved techniques to assess the serviceability of service run hot section components. These projects have been supported by both operators and original equipment manufacturers from around the world.

Maxine has over 25 years experience in root cause failure diagnosis, failure prevention and remediation, specialising in the reliability of rotating equipment.

Maxine has devised and managed several research programmes aimed at improving the service life and reliability of rotating machinery including four, multi-client programmes on the industrial applications of coatings and surface treatments.

She has recently completed a joint industry programme on gas turbine asset management as part of the Australian CIEAM initiative. Maxine was one of the founders of the UK National Pump Centre, a past member of the Institute of Materials Surface Engineering committee and Institute of Mechanical Engineers Tribology Group and was on the advisory board for the UK Pump Centre.

She is the Chair of the Australia and New Zealand Gas Turbine Users Forum.

Eiji is a pioneer of MHI gas turbine engineering from design to after-service. He has led the development of next generation gas turbine technology for decades from the MF111 through Mitsubishi’s F and G series. The development of the M501G dramatically improved gas turbine performance and reliability benefitting users around the world. In addition, he has expanded MHI gas turbine technology to low BTU gases firing application, such as BFG (Blast Furnace Gas). His vision and leadership have shaped the MHI gas turbine business.

After developing gas turbine technology and MHI’s after-service philosophy in Japan, he established Mitsubishi Power Systems Europe service organization as senior vice president, using his breadth of experience to develop MHI’s European supply chains, repair, maintenance capabilities, and service know-how.

YASUOKI TOMITA

Yasuoki has over 20 years of experience with gas turbine engineering, design, and maintenance service. Since joining MHI, he has worked on all stages of gas turbine engineering from design to maintenance. He is currently working as the engineering manager for the gas turbine service division of MHI to improve gas turbine reliability.

He has led projects focusing on root cause failure diagnosis, failure prevention through proactive remote monitoring, lifetime extension of hot parts, and reliability improvements. For those reliability improvements, he has overseen extensive verification of gas turbine including component analysis and failure investigations.
